Semaphore Project

So am starting a new game work, it is going to use semaphore, which is a visual communication system with flags, but the problem is how to impart the knowledge of how to use the flags to sign the language. Well had a bit of a breakthrough, rather than having the signs set out, I wanted an interface where the signing could be shown to the person as they do it. I think I have it, taking the signs and working it into a ring structure, with the left and right set out. Then I had the idea of a small mirror, and found the reflecting mirrors cars have to magnify the road behind, and using them it really allows the work to be portable. The other person has the card but cut out, so can see the person though it.

Friday 30th July. So developing the semaphore some more – maybe call it that – There is the call and response in the game artwork, or whatever it is. Basically though when I tried to look at intpreting the singing being done, I found that it needed to be reverse the other sheet, as the person is looking though it at the signer, so did a test filming myself doing the signing using the mirror and sheet, and filmed this and then tried interpreting it. It works well. So now have a way to sign and a way to read the sign. But what is it they sign. Wondering about using existing text messages on phone. Not sure.
